What Is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on treatment that focuses on the craniosacral system: the soft tissues and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. By working with subtle rhythms in this system, a trained therapist can identify and address restrictions that may be contributing to pain, tension, or nervous system dysregulation.

CST is commonly sought for conditions including chronic headaches and migraines, neck and back pain, jaw tension, stress-related symptoms, sleep difficulties, and recovery from injury or trauma. Because it uses very light touch and is non-invasive, it is well-tolerated by a wide range of patients, including those who find deeper bodywork uncomfortable.

At Phoenix Massage & Wellness, craniosacral therapy is offered exclusively by Paulina Lema.

Craniosacral Therapy at Phoenix Massage & Wellness

Craniosacral therapy at Phoenix Massage & Wellness is offered exclusively by Paulina Lema, RMT. Paulina graduated from Makami College in 2021 and has been a Registered Massage Therapist in good standing with the CRMTA since. In that same year, she received her certification in CranioSacral therapy, and has been incorporating it into her practice alongside deep tissue, prenatal, hot stone, cupping, and lymphatic drainage massage.

Paulina brings a focused, individualized approach to each session, working within the unique rhythms of each patient's craniosacral system to identify and release restrictions. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Sessions are conducted fully clothed and involve light, sustained holds at specific points along the head, neck, spine, and sacrum. Direct billing is available, and online booking is open seven days a week.

Integration and Follow-Up

Following treatment, many patients notice a sense of calm or lightness. Your therapist will discuss findings and recommend a follow-up cadence based on your goals and how your body responded.

What Craniosacral Therapy Can Help With

Patients at Phoenix commonly seek craniosacral therapy for:

  • Chronic headaches and migraines, including tension headaches that haven't responded well to other treatments
  • Neck and jaw tension, TMJ discomfort, and restricted cervical range of motion
  • Nervous system dysregulation, stress-related symptoms, sleep difficulties, and post-concussion recovery

Most patients notice a reduction in their primary symptoms within a few sessions. Craniosacral therapy is also used alongside other manual therapies such as RMT massage, naturopathy, and physiotherapy as part of a broader care plan.
